Uppsala Municipality chooses Humana Omsorg to operate eight assisted living homes

2011-10-28 12:00

Humana Omsorg, part of the Humana Group, has been awarded a contract to operate eight LSS assisted living facilities. Humana Omsorg has to date had responsibility for elderly care and LSS assisted living facilities in southern Sweden, making this a significant geographical expansion for the company.

Humana Omsorg has been awarded a contract to operate eight housing units in Nyby, Löten and Gamla Uppsala, which are currently operated by the municipal entity Vård & bildning. This comes as a result of Uppsala Municipality’s public procurement process. Operations are expected to start by 1 May 2012 at the latest.

“We are very happy and proud to be entrusted with operating care facilities in Uppsala,” comments Johan Åsbrink, President of Humana Omsorg. “Our ambition is to offer our customers the best quality of care and give them greater opportunities to influence their everyday lives.”

Human Omsorg was judged to have submitted the best bid in terms of overall economy in Uppsala Municipality’s procurement process. Takeover of the operation will take place in close coordination with Uppsala Municipality, which currently operates the eight LSS homes. Humana Omsorg will initiate its work at the respective assisted living homes by immediately informing the residents, their families and personnel, as soon as the contract award decision has taken force, which normally takes ten days.

“We want to give everyone an opportunity to meet the management at Humana Omsorg and explain how the takeover of each assisted living home in Uppsala will take place in a secure and respectful manner for everyone concerned,” adds Johan Åsbrink.
