2011-08-26 12:00

Humana AB, the market leader in personal assistance and with operations in LSS assisted living, elderly care, and individual and family care, has acquired Habiliteket AB.

Habiliteket operates a preschool, compulsory school, a school for the intellectually disabled, an after-school recreation centre and a short-term home for children with multi-functional disabilities in specially adapted facilities in Täby, just north of Stockholm. Habiliteket is a highly specialised operation offering unique competence and experience. Assisting teachers at the company’s school and preschool is a team of pedagogues, therapists, child-care staff, physiotherapists and speech therapists. The compulsory school has 30 student spots. In total Habiliteket has some 60 employees. Sales in 2010 amounted to SEK 25 million.

“We are happy and proud to now have Habiliteket as part of the Humana family,” comments Per Granath, President and CEO of Humana. “Habiliteket has built a strong brand through its high quality and unique competence in its area of specialisation. We see Habiliteket’s customer offering as a highly attractive complement to Humana’s operations. Children and youths are Humana’s largest customer group, and many existing customers are requesting the types of services offered by Habiliteket. Among the children and families who have grown accustomed to and have gained security from Humana’s quality and stability, there is a strong demand to have even more needs met through us. Habiliteket will broaden our customer offering and contribute to the further strengthening of Humana’s brand and quality image. Like Humana, Habiliteket has a clear values foundation with a strong commitment and ambition to create better quality of life for its students. We look forward to working together with Habiliteket’s management and employees on further developing their activities.”

Habiliteket will continue to operate as a standalone entity within the Humana Group, with a board comprising new as well as existing board members. Annika Strömberg, President and Headmaster, will continue to run Habiliteket with the existing management and employees. Pia Winnberg-Lindqvist, who has owned and run Habiliteket for 17 years, will continue to serve as a board member. Ann-Marie Thörn, Chairman of the Board of Habiliteket for many years, will also continue to serve on the Board.
